Why Our Son's Face Is Not On Social Media

Many people wonder why we dont post any pictures of our son on Facebook or any social media platform. This seems to be a real hot topic. Most people we speak to don't seem to understand and/or think it makes no sense.

Before our lil booger was even born, my boyfriend and I discussed social media. We had both decided we did not want to put our son's face on any social media platform. (We never posted a sonogram either)

When we found out we were having a baby, we sent out announcements to family and texted or called close friends. There was never any: "guess what! We're expecting!" on Facebook.

The fact that we did not announce this publicly seemed to bother some people. We even got a comment about us "hiding the pregnancy". (For the record we were not hiding the pregnancy)

I did not want to post about it on social media is all. If we saw people we are not particularly close to we told them. We figured the people who needed to know, knew, and the rest would find out by word of mouth. This was the Facebook world and all the people you are only "friends" with because of work, hobbies, previous employment, etc would be left out of it.

There is so much bad happening in the world every day and there are just some awful people out there. (Especially lurking on social media) That we feel our son's every move does not need to be recorded on social media and and his face does not need to be plastered on a public page for all to see

(There's even facial recognition on Facebook, which is just scary.)

I am guilty of the occasional update and if he is in a picture he probably is not looking or has an emoji for a face. But our posts (Especially compared to others) is few and far between.

I am not sure why people care so much as to why we do not post pictures of him on social media. But it is our decision as his parents to keep him off social media.

We don't have a set age where we will start posting him either.

When he gets older he can post his own face on social media if he wants. Until then you wont be seeing our sons face on there any time soon.

Sorry not sorry

  1. I always will respect your decisions, always have not matter what!

One thing is though, predators and sick people know how to remove the emoji quite easily. Look into that. I saw it on Dr. Phil once.

    Love you!
