Local Favorites!
One of my favorite things in the world is FOOD! I have always had a love for food. I will try almost anything once even if it sounds a bit odd.
Today I wanted to tell you about some of our favorite local spots to eat. We by no means have been to every food spot in our area (although I wouldn't mind) and we are not professional food critics. These are just some places that my family and I enjoy and would like to share. All of these places are family/child friendly.
The Woodcock Brothers decor is great, every time I wall in I remember how much I love it. However we don't go there for how its looks. We go for the food. More specifically the PIZZA! They dont just have your typical cheese and pep pizza. They also have a bruschetta to die for!
Stop in and try their pizza. It's half off on Tuesdays!
Now I know I said this was about food but Woodcock Brothers is a brewery and they do have some great beer! If you're like my boyfriend and enjoy a typical light beer (like Coors Light) your gonna wanna stick with their Niagara Lager. If you want to branch out a little bit try their Red Head Amber Ale.
2. Johnston's Restaurant -Located in Ransomville, NY
This is one of the first places we went when we moved to the area. They have almost anything you can think of. Johnston's has a number of tastey foods.
We used to go practically every Sunday for the breakfast buffet. It's great! They have a large spread of food from eggs Benedict to biscuits and gravy. The salads are amazing too! They are so big you could share! They come in a tortilla bowl!
3. Knead the Dough - Located in Ransomville NY
Knead the Dough is a little breakfast place. The decor is great too, they have little aigns everywhere and it makes you feel like you're in your own kitchen/dining room. They also have a bookshelf where you can borrow books.
They have all the breakfast you can dream off and everything is handmade/homemade even the bread! The bread is probably my favorite. (I have a soft spot for anythinh bread!) They have different specials posted on a chalk board every day as well.
On your way out you can order homemade pastries. (These look so delicious) I can't wait to try a cinnamon roll!
4. One Eyed Jack's - Located in Lockport, NY
One Eyed Jack is one of our favorite BBQ places. I personally am not a fan of BBQ food. My boyfriend on the other hand loves it, so we tried this place out.
The menu consists of typical barbecue foods you would think they would have. Like brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. The portions are a great size and the food is great. The sauces are delish too!
They have a dish call Pigken that is mmm mmm good! Its pulled pork and smoked chicken in a homemade honey-garlic sauce.
5. Hoover's Restaurant and Dairy Store - Located in Sanborn, NY
Hoover's had some of the best ice cream around. They serve Perry's ice cream and custard. I always get chcocolate because I am a chocolate lover. However, they have tons of flavors and they even have pies!
Hoover's also has all kinds of food! Pierogi, Fried bologna, and even sloppy Joe. With different specials everyday. Hoover's also sells their own milk and chocolate milk in GLASS bottles! They even deliver their milk, like back in the day.
6. Brickyard Pub and BBQ - Located in Lewiston, NY
Walking down the quiet Lewiston main street you wouldnt expect there to be a great bbq place on main street. But there is and it's great.
Brickyard has heaping plates of food! We always go home with extras. They also have fresh baked cornbread with practically every dish! The pit platters will be sure to fill you before you have even finished your plate, which means LEFTOVERS!
They also have a large variety of beer on tap.
7. Wilson House Restaurant and Inn - Located in Wilson, NY
I have only been to the Wilson house once. I am hoping to go back soon. The one time I was there though the food was amazing.
They also have chicken and waffles, pork chops, and even scallops! All things I wouldn't mind trying!
8. Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse - Located in Niagara Falls, ON
You are going to need a passport or enhanced license for this one. It is also more on the expensive side, but it is totally worth it.
Brazilian Steakhouses have been on the rise but this one has been around for about 4 years at LEAST. My boyfriend and I go here at least once a year.
The Copa costs about 50 bucks per person (not including drinks) for an all you can eat experience. The best part? The meats come to you! I have never had a bad experience. They also have grilled pineapple with cinnamon. (One of my boyfriend's absolute favorite)
If you go on a Saturday night there are dancers, which is so much fun! The band is usally pretty fun too.
9. Kalamata Family Restaurant- Located in Lockport, NY
You can go to Kalamata at just about any time of day. We usually go for breakfast but no matter what time we go, we always get the spicy feta. If you like a little kick and feta cheese I would definitely recommend this.
They have greek breakfast plates that are great too. A favorite of my boyfriend's is the cinnamon swirl pancakes; they're more of a dessert than a breakfast food though. They always have a perfect swirl in them though!
10. Dispenza's Meat Market - Located in Ransomville, NY
I know all the places I've posted have been restaurants but Dispenza's deserves to be recognized as well.
Dispenza's sells naturally raised meats from local farms. It is delicious. One of my favorite things about Dispenza's, other than it's a small mom/pop shop with 4 employees, is that they sell Boar's Head deli meat and cheeses. Boar' s Head is my all time favorite deli meat. It is what I grew up with.
They also sell a few other products like honey, sauces, and Pasta. All from local shops. They have Meat CSAs as well as different meat packages.
Not to mention the people who work there are amazing.
And that concludes my list of our favorite local spots. Let me know what some of your favorite spots in Niagara County are!

One eyed Jack's is awesome! I'm not bug on BBQ but it's definitely a place I really like!
